Christian Louboutin
Pronunciation: kris-tyen lou-bou-tan
All that glitters on fabulous feet.
You’d know that lipstick red heel anywhere, and even if you didn’t, the quality is still recognizable from twenty paces back. Christian Louboutin, is there nothing you can’t do? While the name conjures up the sort of old-school glamour often seen in his gorgeously-designed shoes, Louboutin has only been designing since the late seventies, when as a sixteen-year-old club kid he decided to try selling his designs to showgirls and music hall dancers that he met on the scene. These days, he simply lets the shoes speak for themselves through exposure in his two Paris boutiques and collaborations with designers like Yves Saint-Laurent and Roland Mouret – and, of course, via the well-shod feet of celebs like Nicole Kidman, Gwen Stefani, and Angelina Jolie.
Find your favorites at Net-a-Porter; we recommend the utterly fabulous Very Prive Paillette Platforms (pictured above) for getting down on the dance floor at the reception – or even better, do as Christian intended and take yourself out on the town in them.
